URGENT CARE

When you are sick or in pain, you should not have to wait days for an appointment or sit for hours in a busy urgent care or emergency department. At WellKC, we offer same-day appointments when you need them, and you don't even have to leave the comfort of your own home (or bed)! We will provide you with the highest level of care through a prompt, convenient, virtual appointment.

If you ever need an urgent care appointment, but don't see a same-day opening or a time that works for you on our online scheduling platform, just text us at 913-213-1352!

WellKC is based in Johnson County, Kansas, but we offer virtual appointments to adults (18 and older) anywhere in the state of Kansas. Text our office or request an appointment above for a virtual appointment today!

What happens during an Urgent Care appointment?   We will assess the urgency and severity of your condition to be sure you do not need emergency care. We will also determine if you may need lab work or other testing to verify or further evaluate your symptoms or health problem. After diagnosing the cause of your symptoms, we will decide on a treatment plan together. This may include self-care instructions, over-the-counter medications, dietary or activity modifications, or prescription medications.  Just text us or request an appointment above whenever you need a prompt urgent care appointment.

When should I seek an Urgent Care appointment?   You should seek urgent care for issues such as acute illness, minor injuries, acute pain, or chronic disease flares. During your virtual urgent care visit at WellKC, we will focus on quickly and efficiently diagnosing your issue, and we will provide treatment to ease your symptoms, prevent complications, and promote healing.

What conditions can be treated through an Urgent Care appointment? At WellKC, we provide same-day, virtual, urgent care appointments for a wide range of pressing health problems. Common urgent care issues that we can treat include (but are not limited to): - Cough - Fever - Allergies - Upper respiratory infections - Colds and flu - Sore throats - Ear pain or drainage - Conjunctivitis (pink eye)  - Sinus infections - Back pain - Headaches and migraines - Acute pain - Skin rash - Minor burns - Minor injuries - Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea - Mental health flares or worsening

When should I seek Emergency Care over Urgent Care?   The emergency department is staffed 24/7 with specialists and equipped to provide a higher level of care than you can receive through an urgent care or virtual visit. You should go to the emergency department for the following conditions: - Fractures - Seizures - Electric shock - Traumatic brain injuries - Severe abdominal pain - Heavy or uncontrolled bleeding - Loss of consciousness - Known or suspected poisoning - Known or suspected overdose - Fever with a stiff neck, neck pain, severe headache, or skin rash - Possible heart attack (chest pain, difficulty breathing, dizziness, and jaw, back, or arm pain) - Possible stroke (difficulty speaking, drooping on one side of the face, weakness in one arm) - Severe allergic reaction (difficulty breathing, swollen tongue and throat) If you aren't sure if your condition can be managed via virtual urgent care appointment or not, just reach out and ask us!  You should always call 911 for potentially serious or life-threatening concerns.
